While I am not a fan of long-term fasting and detox diets and don’t promote or use them in my health coaching practice, I understand that a number of people are interested in these kinds of diets, and many have maintained these diets with varying results. Please exercise personal discretion and wisdom when making any changes to your diet. For best results, please seek the advice and support of several trained health and wellness professionals before beginning any diet program such as the one presented in this book.

What path do you follow when your mother is the foremost authority on womb healing, fasting, and other health concerns that affect black American communities? What’s it like having a mother who makes you drink green juices, won’t buy you junk food, and has you give up all food for days at a time? You can act out and be sent away to gain some perspective, or, you can straighten up, fly right, and join her. If you’re Supa Nova Slom, it’s both, and then you write a book about it.

Supa Nova Slom, Hip Hop’s very own Medicine Man, has taken core values of holistic health – adequate sunlight, green foods, detox, and exercise – and packaged them in the most accessible format I haven’t seen. Ever.

The Remedy: The Five-Week Power Plan to Detox Your System, Combat the Fat, and Rebuild Your Mind and Body is a two-stage program – stage one for The Remedy and stage two for the Supa Power Plan. Supa Nova will introduce you to his “Chlorophyllian Cleanse”, a five day juice and “Mega Supa Greens” juice fast that you’ll make yourself, and then show you how to go from careless omnivore to conscious eater, guiding you each step of the way with practical transition tips, self-care rituals, and recipes, and a maintenance plan.

You’ll also find testimonials from some top names in the entertainment industry, including Erykah Badu, Tyson Beckford, and Jim Jones. There’s even commentary from Doug Green, founder of NYC’s Liquiteria.

While Supa Nova Slom himself practices a high raw and green plant-based diet, he’s not out to convert you or make you give up your favorite foods. Instead, he invites you to consider the effects poor eating habits and food buying choices are having on your overall health and well-being, and presents you with an alternative.
