Periods are not just for pregnancy and fertilty is more than just for making babies.
Your menstrual cycle is a vital sign that tells the story of your overall health and well-being from one cycle to the next.
We’ve all been living with PMS and period problems to varying degrees and while it’s normal, it’s not healthy. And we can do something about it.
When you join Muscle + Flow, you’ll learn how to
- track your cycle, including ovulation for birth control or conception
- connect symptoms to nutrition and lifestyle factors
- sync your cycle with the moon and your lifestyle
- balance your hormones with food, physical activity, and self-care
- move your body for optimum wellness during each phase of your menstrual cycle
Why is fitness important to the menstrual cycle?
Physical activity helps maintain hormone balance. Weight or resistance training specifically helps improve insulin sensitivity, which impacts ovulation. Overall, daily movement helps increase oxygen in the lungs and blood which improves circulation, increases endorphins, relieves stress, and improves mood and libido.
It’s easy to skip a workout when you’re not feeling motivated, so I’ve created Muscle & Flow to help us maintain our physical activity as part of our ongoing self-care regimen.
In each session, you’ll work out to a program of your choice for 10-45 minutes and then you’ll have the opportunity to share what’s going on with your cycle and get support.
I’ll wait about 10 minutes for everyone to get on and get situated, but you can drop in at any time. The first hour is for the workout and recovery and the 2nd hour is for the group chat session.
There are two fitness options to choose from: Beachbody and HoopYogini. I am an Independent Beachbody Coach and we’ll be using the Beachbody on Demand platform (BOD). If you have a free membership you’ll need to upgrade, or you can choose a sample workout that’s available with your free membership. You’ll also need to have me as your Coach.
HoopYogini combines mindfulness with hooping and requires a hula hoop which you can purchase or make your own.
All workouts will be available to you streaming and on demand.
If you are menstruating during this session I invite you to choose a beginner or Yoga workout. No HIIT, ab work or otherwise strenuous workouts. Or, you can do a breathwork practice (I’ll share with you) and join us for the second half.
These sessions meet on Thursdays and will not be recorded.
