Hormone Testing

EverlyWell Home Health Tests

EverlyWell Home Health Test
I started paying more attention to my hormones after gaining 50 pounds without the typical explanation (overeating, moving less) in less than a year, accompanied by fatigue, bursitis, and hirsutism.

When my doctors were unwilling to provide me with the tests I requested to understand what was happening, my research led me to at-home hormone testing options.

While I advocate for natural solutions to most PMS and period problems, knowing what your hormones are doing are an essential first step to correcting them.

I’ve partnered with EverlyWell to help you get the tests that are essential to understanding your body. From there, you can work with me or your preferred practitioner on next steps.

If you’ll be taking a natural approach to balancing your hormones, I recommend the following books in addition to the test kits mentioned below. You do not have to buy them all — read the descriptions and choose the one that resonates most with how you’d like to restore your body to balance:

Period Repair Manual
Beyond The Pill
The Hormone Cure
Taking Charge of Your Fertility
5th Vital Sign

When you order these tests online from EverlyWell, you’ll receive a test kit in the mail with instructions on how to prepare for the tests. After you’ve completed the tests, you’ll mail them back to Everlywell, where a physician will review your lab results. Once available, you’ll be able to login and review your results.

Heart Health Test

Heart disease is the #1 killer of women, but symptoms are often dismissed or ignored, because of gender bias in the healthcare system, symptoms that present differently in women vs men, and other factors that prevent women from getting adequate screening. While the link between menstrual cycles and cholesterol are still being studied, scientists believe that progesterone and estradiol change cholesterol levels in the bloodstream. Women with PCOS are more likely to have higher levels of LDL due to insulin resistance and/or diabetes.
