10,000 Black Women Getting Fit & Financially Free

The mission of 10,000 Black Women Getting Fit and Financially Free is to empower, uplift, and galvanize Black women towards optimal health and financial independence through physical activity, community building, and cooperative economics.

I don’t have to tell you that Black women are disproportionately burdened by chronic illness and disease, healthcare bias, and pay inequity.

As a Black woman, you already know, either from your own lived experience or from the Black women in your life. Instead, I’d like to share how I am actively engaged in changing the narrative so that I and other Black women just like you can experience optimal health and well-being along with the financial security we deserve.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to health and fitness, nor is there a standard or ideal body type as a measure of health and fitness. But we can choose specific habits and behaviors that reduce stress, balance hormones, improve mood and sleep, and feel better in our bodies and live overall.

When you have money, you have choices. You can choose where you want to eat and live, where you shop, and the places you travel to. When you learn how to make money work for you instead of working for money, your choices expand. And when you have more money than you need, you can have influence and create impact in your community and beyond.

About Melissa Danielle

Melissa Danielle & Keiki

I’ve spent almost 20 years building community around food, fitness, and wellness, connecting eaters to farmers, cityfolk to the outdoors, and inspiring many to create a lifestyle of health, fitness, and wellness. I have worked to create systemic and structural change in the food system and in my hometown of Bedford-Stuyvesant through advocacy and community food projects.

I was effective, but it wasn’t enough to create sustainable, lasting change.

While I was trying to save the world, (really, just my neighbors) I failed to prioritize my own health and my finances and that led to burnout. During my recovery (and subsequent relocation), I began to unpack the generational trauma drama I played out over my lifetime that was keeping me sick, tired, and broke.

I cultivated a new relationship with my body, the Feminine principle, and money. I read all the things, enrolled in courses and trainings, talked to my best girlfriends, meditated, breathed, went to therapy, and did the work. While I’m not yet where I want to be, my mindset and my health have dramatically improved for the better.

Today, I have an ambitious goal to help 10,000 Black women get fit and financially free. As a Black woman and health coach, I see too many Black women suffering with period problems due to hormone imbalances that eventually leads to type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hysterectomy, cancer, and death.

Oftentimes, these health concerns can be corrected through lifestyle changes.

Black women hold up the culture and the community while leading the statistics across all disease and mortality outcomes. All while earning less than their counterparts. It’s time to do things differently.

Black women deserve to be healthy, happy, and whole. But we can’t get there if we’re sick and tired with more month at the end of the money.

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution to health or financial freedom, but what works is a clear vision and understanding, commitment, and consistent action.

As a health coach, I’m always looking for new ways to support my clients’ vision of health and happiness without sacrificing my own. As a business owner, I’ve come to understand that true financial freedom comes from having multiple income streams, with the majority being passive or residual, meaning cash flow is constant regardless of whether I put in work.
